Shut down the Chinese police stations in Canada

Imagine what it would be like if a foreign country set up "police stations" in Canada, and used them to drag people back to their own dictatorship.

And now imagine that Canada's government does nothing to stop it.

Well, I have bad news: according to an international human rights watchdog, that's exactly what's happening, right now.

The Chinese government claims they're just running "service centres" that help Chinese citizens living in Canada to do stuff like renew their driver's license back home.  Sounds pretty normal, right?  But according to human rights group Safeguard Defenders, the reality is far more dangerous.

If Beijing's secret police decide that they want a Chinese Canadian arrested -- for example, if that person was caught criticizing Xi Jinping on social media -- they use these service centres to contact him and "convince" him to go back to China.  If he does, he has to face the Chinese "justice" system.  And if he doesn't, maybe they threaten his family back in China.  His wife might lose her job, his kids might be kicked out of school... or worse.

When contacted by the Globe & Mail, the RCMP just shrugged and dismissed the reports as "uncorroborated."

None of these illegal secret police have been deported.  There are no signs the Canadian government is working to shut them down.  They haven't even bothered to send a letter telling them to stop!  But I suppose that's to be expected, when our Prime Minister admires China's basic dictatorship so much.

What the Chinese government is doing is illegal, and outrageous.  Canada needs to stand up for itself.  If our government lets authoritarian bullies like the Chinese Communist Party push us around, they don't deserve to be in power.

Tell the Canadian government: these secret police stations need to be shut down immediately, and any Chinese government agents acting illegally need to be kicked out of the country -- right now.

Will you sign?
